Creating Your Desired Atmosphere for the Winter Holidays
Holidays are special times to celebrate with your family and friends. You watch the faces of those who enter you home as a 'reward' for all the time and effort you spent creating your desired atmosphere. Your decor sets the atmosphere, and your mood sets the stage for an enjoyable event.

AromaOne of the first things your guest notice is the aroma as they walk into your home. The food that you are cooking, the pine wreaths and trees, and the other aromas you have in your home. Here are a few ways to enhance the aromas for your event

Simmering Stove Scents
You put a pot of water on the stove. Then add your aromas, and turn on the power to low. Let the air fill with the warmed scent from the pot. Some of my favorites to fill the pot are:
  • Vanilla and Orange Peels
  • Cinnamon
  • Rosemary
Another version is to fill water in a loaf pan, add your favorite scents, warm them up in the oven. Turn off the oven and prop open the door slightly. This is a little harder, since most times I'm cooking and don't have a spare oven.

I like using fresh plants and produce when available, else I revert to essential oils. You can do a google search on simmering potpourri recipes to get ideas.
Burning Candles
Candles provide a great visual effect as well as providing aromas. You can have different scents in each room, or carry the same scent theme throughout the home.
Distributed Scents
Essential Oils are one of my favorite ways to distribute scents throughout the house. Just take your favorite scent and add it to your holiday decor. Dab a bit of oil on the xx

Wall Art
Adding or exchanging your wall art for the holidays gives your home an additional atmosphere. Your art reflects what is important to you. The art evokes emotions and memories and bring about interesting discussions. 		Angels, Fairies, Snowmen, various versions of Santa Claus (Father Christmas, Kris Kringle),
